Model Laboratory School is pleased to announce the hire of Lauren Kundert as the new dance coach for grades 6 - 12. Kundert, 30, is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she ran track for 3 years specializing in Hurdles and Sprints.

Kundert grew up in Mason City, Iowa where she danced for 15 years. During this time, her team won five consecutive state titles.  After graduation, she became a cheer and dance instructor at Jump N’ Jam, headquartered in Mason City, where she choreographed multiple state champion dance/cheer routines. Lauren then moved to Las Vegas, NV where she coached cheer, dance and gymnastics for Larry Lakes Gymnastics Studio, working alongside Cirque du Soleil instructors.

Now, Lauren lives in Lexington, working for US Equestrian in their Safe Sport program. She is an avid equestrian and animal lover.

Model Athletics Director Scotty Sutton said, “We are so excited to have found someone with Lauren’s experience. During her interview, we could tell her enthusiasm for coaching is off the charts. We couldn’t be happier for her to lead the dance program.”

Kundert says, “I’m thrilled to get back into coaching dance.  It’s been a part of my life since I was a child. I’m really looking forward to continuing what Stephanie has built with the Model program and taking it to new heights.”
