Students Qualify for Governor's Programs

Three Model juniors qualified for the Governor's Scholars Program:  Stephanie McCormick, Maya Gershtenson, and Hannah Durbin.  The students demonstrated outstanding scholarship and essays as part of a statewide competition.  Matt Pennington was accepted into the distinguished Governor's School for the Arts program in vocal music.  Congratulations to these fine Model

Connor Rogers Earns Trip to National History BEE

Connor Rogers' (2nd from left) performance in the Lexington Regional Finals qualified him to advance to the National History Bee Championship in Atlanta on June 1.  Of the thousands of students at school across the country who participate in the National History Bee, only a select few are invited to advance to Atlanta.  Others participating included Jack Coles, Harry Moberly and R

MS Students Take Duke TIP test

Middle School students identified for the DUKE Talent Identification Program took the ACT and SAT tests as 7th graders.  Those qualifying for state recognition include:  Uma Aikat, Nafiz Budeiri, Kaitlyn Hornsby, Benjamin Knapp, Avanti Patel, Caswell Patton, and Connor Rogers.

A Wild West Adventure

The Model 4th and 5th grade Drama Club presents "A Wild West Adventure" on Sunday, April 21, 3:00 pm in the Model auditorium.  The original script was written by 5th graders Emma Rupard and Elena Smith.  You are in for a treat as Zeus and other Greek gods interact with mad scientists and mean cowgirls in the Wild West.

Successful Hong Kong Exchange

Model High School students and chaperones had a great time in the Hong Kong Exchange program.  Students visited historic places and learned about schools.  They stayed in homes with their partners form Hong Kong who visited them in Richmond earlier.  More photos are on Model's Facebook page.

Model Elementary Places First in District Governor's Cup

The Elementary Academic Team placed first in district competition.  Both the Quick Recall Team and the Future Problem Solving Team took home top honors.  Many students also placed in written assessment.  The team moves on to regional competition.

5th Grade Science Fair Winners

Model 5th graders presented excellent Science Fair projects with teacher Myranda Peterson.  Judges scored all projects, and the top five move on to district competition.  First place:  Jadyn Marcum.  Second place:  Ben Halcomb.  Third place:  Elena Smith.  Fourth place:  Lindsey Patrick.  Fifth place:  Abby Knapp.

Chess Champions

In the third grade and under division at Quad D (Regional) Chess Tournament held in West Liberty, Kentucky on 2/9/13, Kindergartener Sam Leigers won five out of six rounds to take first place overall. Teammate Beckett Parker-Noblitt, also a kindergartener, won third place in the overall individual. Sam and Beckett’s scores combined won first place overall in the team competition.

Welcome Hong Kong Exchange Students

EKU Model Lab School welcomes five students and one chaperone from Hong Kong.  They will tour Kentucky and visit students and families.  Model students will visit Hong Kong later in the year.

Patriots Win First Round in State Tournament

After winning the Regional Tournament, Model Lab High School Boys Basketball team earned the first trip to the All A State Tournament sweet sixteen in school history.  They won their opening game 68-56 against a tough Highland Heights team.
